Snapshells are crab-like Mimics with shells resembling a turtle's that cling to ceilings, attacking players who come near them. They always stay in a slightly off-vertical alignment to the player unless forced otherwise. According to Cypress, its shell shows similarities with the one of a Shellspore fungus.

Tips & Attacks[]
Often times, one can force a Snapshell into a corner or edge through a combination of luring/intimidating them, based on your position. Make sure the Snapshell knows of your presence, then proceed to walk past the desired corner/edge. Quickly run to the opposite side, and push them back into the corner/edge.

Snapshell hiding
Fire the steamthrower upwards and, while still holding S, switch quickly back and forth between the up and (right or left, according to position) arrow keys. The steam jet will swing back and forth across the Snapshell, hitting it on every pass.
If you don't have a steamthrower, there are still some strategies you can use. For some Snapshells (for example, the ones that hang upside-down on branches), you can fly up to it on a horizontal axis a bit away from its movement range, but it will not be able to reach you, and you can easily hit it. In addition, you may be able to jump up, then use a diagonal attack (up+right+s or up+left+s) to attack it. Sometimes, you can stand just under it and hit it diagonally without risking getting harmed. Finally, you can sometimes run at it very quickly, then hit it with an up attack before it has a chance to dodge.
Note that a Snapshell will hide in its shell when hit by a shot fired from too far away.

Find an area to jump (or Double jump) to reach it. use Up Attack (up + S) to damage. Repeat this action until you kill the Snapshell.
Crag[]
For certain ones, you can cling onto a wall and attack from out of range, or for ceiling ones you can jump and attack vertically/diagonally while moving sideways in midair towards the Snapshell.

- The Mimicology Quest "Snapshell Study" (CY0006) from Cypress requires collecting 25 Snapshell Plates that are dropped by Snapshells during this quest.
- In the Extermination Quest "Snapshell Extermination" (AS0026), the player must kill 50 Snapshells per day for three days for Admiral Stanton.
- In the Extermination Quest "Enraged Snapshells" (AS0090), the player must kill 100 enraged Snapshells per day for three days for Admiral Stanton.
